There is a constant debate when it comes to stumps a lot of people will leave them as they are when they remove a tree. For the most part, a stump won’t reach the height that it once had when it was a full tree, so there are people that believe that the best thing to with them is to remove them completely. We won’t really get into the details as to which way to handle them we believe is better. Especially since we handle stump grinding and stump removal services so, you can pretty much tell we would be right in the middle on this argument anyway.
Why Would I Need To Grind A Stump?
If you have a stump and have never seen or had it ground at all you may be wondering why this is an option. As we’ve said stumps are usually ok if they don’t reach a certain size where they become more of a problem than an asset to properties. That is why some people will elect to have them ground which is basically shaving off a lot of the volume that a stump could get to. If you have a stump that you believe is getting quite big you may want to have it ground.
How Do We Go About Grinding A Stump
Most of the times we do use a special grinder that is built precisely for these types of jobs. This may seem like a pretty dumb answer, but we have seen that a lot of people say that they are going to grind their stump and all they do is take out a chainsaw and cut it up. The whole idea behind grinding a stump is to try and get it to the size and shape that you're going for. So sometimes we may even do some digging around the stump to remove a lot of rocks or things like that around it. We do it very diligently though as we don’t want to leave the entire area kind of head over heels!
One of the major issues that you are probably going to have when you leave a stump behind is that the roots from the original tree will also be left behind. They may try to grow and spread out more and can cause some trouble. Especially if these roots are near a concrete structure. To make sure that the stump and the roots remain at an appropriate size we can also do some root grinding to keep the roots from branching out too much.
If you just want to outright get rid of a stump your only option is to bust out the shovels and take both the stump and the roots completely out. We can provide these services if you need us to. Obviously, our main goal here would be to remove the stump while doing as little damage to the surrounding areas as possible. We can basically know ahead of time how much we are going to have to dig in and we will provide that info to see if this type of service would make sense for you. We also offering tree disease and treatment services.
